Watch It! - Nixon "The Sentry 38"

The latest offering from California based watch and accessory brand Nixon is the Sentry 38.  This watch features a more scaled back design from what Nixon is known for, taking the direction that minimalism can be flashy in it's own right.  Waterproof to 100 meters, and equipped with a hardened mineral crystal face, this watch is stylish while also sturdy.  The 38 in the name comes from the size of the watches face, 38mm, and it is offered in a variety of leather strap options.  Check it out at nixon.com.

Watch It! - Michael Koors

The Michael Kors Lexington Chronograph is a slick, minimalistic approach to the sometime clunky chronograph style we see a lot in today's men's watches.  The all black version, with a black face allows the watch to be utilized both casually and with a suit, and makes sure the wearer will still be noticed, but for all the right reasons.  Check it out online at thebay.com

Style Guide: Maison Kitsune

I was navigating my way through the Mr. Porter site looking for some inspiration for this Thanksgiving Weekend here in Canada, and I came across the Masion Kitsune section.  The french brand was established in 2002 as a record label, but made the move into fashion and now is a world player in all things style.  Here are a few items that caught my eye.  They can be purchased online at Mr. Proter here mrporter.com

A Fresh Start

I started this blog as a first step in my plan to open up my own Men's Wear shop, as well as to develop my own brand in the retail and fashion world.  It's a big world after all, and with the Internet populated with thousands of others trying to do what I want to do, it is hard to stand out.

The start of 2014 brought with it some significant change in my life professionally.  I moved on from my former Retail Management job and into a new career in the Tennis industry.  While still performing retail duties, I moved into the technical side of the industry, working directly with players to help find the right equipment for them, and to maintain that equipment.  It is a rewarding job, and has given me a new perspective on customer service, high end retail, and working as part of a team in a sport based environment.

One drawback has been that my dream I set out towards had been put on the back burner for quite some time.  Those who have looked at my blog in the past would know that I would post frequently, but come March my focus had trailed off.  It was not intentional.  Having so much on my plate that I had to learn on the fly began to take precedence, and my thoughts moved away from my future plans to my current career.

I have made a conscious decision to go for my dream once again.  I feel like there is no better time than now to make a move back into blogging, and to truly start my business plan in order to see my dream move towards reality.  I hope you will come along for this journey, or at least stop by from time to time.  I don't pretend to know everything about the industry, or to be as hip as some of the other blogger's out there, but I will shine a light on the people, places, stores, brands, and icons I respect and love.  I hope you will walk in style with me.

What Exactly is Pitti Uomo?

By Corey Stokes (Complex)
Pitti Uomo kicks off today, and while the #menswear world is buzzing with the hype that comes this time of the year, we thought it'd be the right time to break down exactly what this bi-annual event is.

Aside from being a destination to potentially get snapped by street-style gawds Scott Schuman and Tommy Ton, Pitti Uomo is a place of business. As the men's portion of the Pitti Immagine collection of fashion events, Pitti Uomo is a tradeshow in Florence, Italy that's been around since 1972. It's a four-day market-facing event in which retailers, buyers, and editors come together to view upcoming collections (in this case, Fall 2014).

Most importantly, brands gather under one roof to display a full season (mainly) for buyers, who select the pieces and quantities they wish to order. This is the moment that stores decide what they're going to eventually sell to you, the customer. Once these orders are filled out, the brands spend the next few months producing the correct quantity and they eventually make their way to stores approximately six months later.

Highsnobiety Won't Share This Sweet New Era Hat

Our friends at Highsnobiety just put together their own New Era 59fifty caps, and I've gotta say, I wish I could get my hands on one of these.  They only created 44 of the black on black hat, and gave them to friends and members of the highsnobiety team.  They should look into a bigger release in my opinion.  Check it out here.

Bond Weekender

When traveling one should always dress to impress while maintaining a certain level of comfort in the process.  That means no sweats on the plain, and it's probably time to update that carry on.  The Bond Weekender is perfect for the guy on the go.  Old world styling and sophistication, meet classic utility and convenience for the international jet setter.  They call it a weekender, but this supple leather duffle is spacious enough to pack for a full week!  Check it out online here.

Keep Your Thoughts Organized

Keeping a journal used to be a part of everyday life, but over the last decade or more it has fallen by the wayside, as specially in the case of the modern man.  Sure we blog, but that isn't the same really.  It is good for your own mental health to get thoughts out of your mind and onto paper, not to mention you never know when you might need a specific detail of a situation you encountered (ie. lawsuits!!!! hahaha).  Well it is totally possible to get your hands onto a many journal like this leather bound one from Luca Natalizia & Co. It is a luxurious, vintage-inspired leather journal, featuring a soft cover with wrap-around closure and lined pages.  Tough and manly enough to keep your thoughts in order and look cool doing so.  Get it here
