Quick Gifts for Your Dad

When shopping for your father or another stylish relative, it can be hard to come up with a unique gift that will also match that persons personal style.  Why not go the route of keeping their heirlooms safe with the Gunther Men's Watch Box. It's a great way to help keep your watches free of scratches and scrapes when you're not using them, and it will look great on your dresser too!  The case holds five watches, so this isn't for the big time collector, but it makes a great gift for the holidays.  sears.ca

Alchemist and Snarkitecture "Airball" from Art Basel Miami

Retailer Alchemist has decided to set up their very own art installation directly across from their store for Art Basel Miami this year.  Once again collaborating with Daniel Arsham’s Snarkitecture, the installation consists of an all white basketball playing surface, and allows for the observer to get involved by playing with one of two arcade style basketball shooting games.  Check it out at 111 Lincoln Road, Miami Fl, 33139.

Watch It! - Nixon "The Sentry 38"

The latest offering from California based watch and accessory brand Nixon is the Sentry 38.  This watch features a more scaled back design from what Nixon is known for, taking the direction that minimalism can be flashy in it's own right.  Waterproof to 100 meters, and equipped with a hardened mineral crystal face, this watch is stylish while also sturdy.  The 38 in the name comes from the size of the watches face, 38mm, and it is offered in a variety of leather strap options.  Check it out at nixon.com.

Sophie Simmons, Coming of Age

If you were like me, you may have caught a young Sophie Tweed-Simmons on the reality TV show "Gene Simmons, Family Jewels",  after all the show ran for 8 seasons, and brought the children of super-couple Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed into the spotlight.  Well Sophie has grown up since the show went off the air, and she seems to have become a strong roll model for young women and for the fight against the manipulation of the female body image.

Sophie recently did an extended interview with Yahoo! Style that talks about her growth as a woman, and her development from reality tv star to fashion designer.  She now designs a line called Sophie x TheStyleClub that consists of floral leggings, loose cardigans, and sequined skirts that reflect both Tweed-Simmons’s style, and her respect for the strong women that she idolized.  Check out the full article at yahoo.com
